I'm in the process of selling my used vehicle. The potential buyer and myself agreed to have the safety inspection done at a mechanic of their choice, which resulted in being Verl's. Naturally, and being an older vehicle with 200,000+ kms on it, there were a few things that needed fixing. Front brake pads where 4 mm thickness, needing replacement, rear passenger axle seal needing replacement, and my license plate bulb was burnt out. Verl quoted me $800.00 for all of these jobs including labor. I was flabbergasted when Verl told me that my license plate bulb (minor fix) was estimated to cost about $50 (he wasn't fully sure of the cost). I took it upon myself to get a quote for all the repairs it would need at my local mechanic, for which they quoted me less than $500- considerably less than the amount Verl's quoted me. Already pissed off and frustrated, I went to retrieve my car this afternoon to find my car keys sitting on the floor of their front office. I then got into my vehicle to find the windows down. I make a point of keeping my vehicles clean and spotless. Now I'm REALLY ticked off. I'm not sure what sort of business they're trying to run, or whom they were trying to take advantage of- myself, a young single woman, or the buyer- a young single mother. I will be sure to steer clear from now on..... Thoroughly unimpressed.
